Ran by the Solway Aviation Society who are a registered charity and staffed by volunteers, the museum is a much loved and popular location. Based at Carlisle airport, the museum maintains and displays a vast array of aircraft and aviation exhibits. Although the museum was founded in the 1960's, the airport itself dates from the early 1930's. During the war years it was used as a training facility for British and allied airmen. Over the years there have been reports of men seen in old airforce uniform, pilots looking out of cockpits, only to vanish, the sound of mechanics working in empty hangars, and conversations emiting from empty rooms. Is it the airfield thats haunted or are the spirits still attached to the aircraft and items on display? Come with us and find out, not only does this event give you the chance to investigate, but it also lets you support an amazing team of volunteers who dedicate their time to this wonderful museum.
